To qualify for a Distribution Facilities Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) or competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes Assist in analyzing deficiencies in supply chain; participates in audits and evaluations of DoD systems; prepare written reports Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands Work is primarily of a sedentary nature; however, occasional periods of walking, standing, stooping, bending, and carrying of light items (up to 20 pounds) may be required. Some climbing of stairs may also be required. Interpreting work often requires long periods of concentration. It is both mentally and physically tiring. Incumbent may be required to stand for long periods of time such as 2 hours or more while interpreting without a break. The incumbent must have a high degree of manual dexterity due to the physical nature of sign language interpreting. This is considered to be above average in terms of physical demands for most positions in the office setting. Work Environment The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions associated with working in a warehousing/distribution center environment. Work is typically performed in an office type, classroom room setting in a warehouse environment -where he/she may be subject to some levels of noise, dust/dirt, MHE traffic, varying building temperatures, etc. Appropriate safety precautions must be exercised while walking through the warehouse. Must work a flexible work schedule/tour of duty, so as to be readily available to perform interpreting services on multiple shifts.
