To qualify for a Distribution Process Worker WG-6901-06, your qualifications must include:
Per OPM's Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, the applicant's experience, education and training must show enough knowledge, skills and abilities to demonstrate the potential to successfully perform the duties of the position. Under this system, how applicants gained their skill and knowledge, or the length of time they have spent in a line of work, are not as important as the fact that they have the ability or potential to do the job. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Effort Stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Work requires bending, stooping, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. Uses weight handling equipment or receives assistance from other workers for items heavier than 40 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when operating materials handling equipment. Working Conditions Work is performed within a warehouse environment. Works outside and inside in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, and poorly lighted. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. Subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, chemical fumes, noxious fumes, and skin irritants. Must wear and use safety clothing and equipment for protection from hazards. Wears protective clothing such as steel toed shoes, respirators, earplugs, safety glasses and earplugs, rubber gloves, masks, and aprons. Mechanized roller conveyors are often present as a normal part of material routing and distribution. Must possess or be able to obtain all appropriate state and governmental licenses. Working conditions are a normal part of the job and are considered in the evaluation of the position. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
The following are required for retention in the position:
Must successfully complete all required training as outlined in the DLA Environmental Training Program (ETP) for Hazardous Training. Must obtain and maintain required hazardous materials handling certification. Must obtain and maintain appropriate license/certification to operate all materials handling equipment.
