Our purpose is to provide our participants with the resources they need to amplify their voice and find inclusion and acceptance within the community.
We are looking for somebody with drive and a passion for assisting our participants in a professional and compassionate manner.
It's an often demanding, yet very satisfying and rewarding job, since people who are disabled are thankful for high quality assistance.
The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication skills.
You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help participants.
Responsibilities Implement participant's planned schedule Assist participants with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside Assist participants with personal care and hygiene Help participants with physical therapy exercises Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the participants (when they are able) Do the participant's shopping or accompany them when they shop Perform light housekeeping duties that participants can't complete on their own Be a pleasant and supportive companion Report any unusual incidents Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency Take notes of activities daily and report them back to the Manager/Administrator Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Manager/Administrator Skills Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities Knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR certified) Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards Respectful and compassionate Good time management skills Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills Strong ethics Physical endurance, must be able to walk up to 2 miles and lift up to 50 pounds.
